Looking back at 2012, it really dawned on me that it was a very busy year! We covered major tech events such as CES, E3, all the major auto shows and even launched my first book, El Salto- aprovecha las nuevas tecnologías y alcanza tu potencial. This year, we also provided a great deal of news commentary on radio and TV on important topics that are now the norm of digital life such as tech overload, cyberbullying and social media influence on politics on Univision Network news and also of course, in our weekly segment on Despierta América where I talk about the latest technologies and trends in the marketplace. Internationally, I’m happy to report that CNN en Español also became another one of our homes with regular tech commentary and segments in Café CNN.
It was also a great year for radio with weekly segments with the great Enrique Santos Show, participation in Thalia’s radio show Conexión Thalia, El Show de Luis Jiménez and last but not least, our friends in New York’s la WADO 1280 AM and Carlos Cataño on Caracol 1260 AM in Miami.
Our weekly tech and gadget column in LA’s La Opinión, became more widely distributed within Impremedia to other properties such as El Diario NY, Rumbo Houston, LaRaza Chicago and many others while our gadget reviews made their debut on American Airlines’ Nexos Magazine. In English, I also partnered with VOXXI, a leading online news site for Hispanics, as Tech Editor.
On the speaking front, we led a fundraising in the digital sphere workshop at NCLR, spoke on the changing digital news landscape at the FIU Hispanics in the Media Conference and commented on the technology panel at the Hispanicize conference and presented my book in author panels at the LéaLA and Miami International Book Fairs.
I’m sure I’m forgetting plenty, but it’s also worth mentioning that we hosted our 5th Tecnifícate conference in Salinas, CA to a very grateful audience at Hartnell College.
The year was busy, but fun, to see some of these highlights and more, click on the arrows to navigate the Prezi presentation below. You can zoom in and out of slides and watch all the videos of some of our favorite segments. I hope that you too can look back at 2012 and look forward to doing even more in 2013, as I do. True to form, we are already gearing up for CES next week and the Detroit Auto Show the week after so as many of you already know…never a dull moment! Best wishes for all in 2013! -Ariel
